Biography
Kelly Kahn, is originally from Albertville, Alabama. Her
enthusiasm for art began at a young age. At six she drew from
book illustrations. As a teenager she illustrated cookbooks
and was allowed to draw on her bedroom walls and doors. After
college, a career and licensing in commercial Interior Design
in Birmingham, Alabama, Kelly stepped into the painting
world.
From 1999 - 2011, Kelly taught fine art to children and
teenagers year round (Art Can Be Learned). Some of her
students won awards statewide, completed commissioned artwork
and were selected to enter the Alabama School of Fine Arts.
She has worked with autistic impaired children having the
purpose of enriching their lives and skills. Most of all,
Kelly's goal was to teach students at all levels to enjoy art
while storing fond memories of the experience.
In the fall of 2011, Kelly stepped back in the field of
commercial interiors. She continues to paint commissions and
for pleasure. Birmingham, Alabama is where Kelly makes her
home with her husband and two daughters. Nationally known
artists Jan Kunz, Paul Leveille, Nancy Chaboun and Winslow
Homer have influenced her knowledge and work greatly. Other
local artists such as The Village Painters, Frances Jones,
Dori Decamillis, Rollina Ogelsbay, John Lonergan and Al Sella
have helped to develop her talents. She paints in all mediums
but particularly in oil and watercolor. Her subject matters
have been figurative, architectural, landscapes, still lives
and portraiture.
